Course Outline

Our 5-week course. Each week you will receive an email with the content of the week. You will get a concise explanation, assignments to do over the week, and an example of how they may be done.

Week 1 - Understand Your Starting Point

  • Consider getting someone you know to help you
  • Identify the relevant situations
  • What are your triggers?
  • What are the default current behaviors?
  • What are their benefits?
  • What are their costs?

Week 2 - Define Your Destination

  • Imagine the desired alternative behaviors
  • What would be the benefits?
  • Are there hidden costs?
  • What are the risks?
  • How may you mitigate the risks and costs?

Week 3- Create Your New "Program"

  • Use the guidance from your "wiser self" and helpers
  • Draw a detailed "flow chart"
  • "Test it" with a few historical examples
  • Imagine yourself "in the heat". Can you follow robotically?
  • Package it "to go"

Week 4 - Use Your Program Consistently

  • Overcome the embarrassment
  • Aim for real-time application
  • Settle on "post mortem" applications
  • Patience is key
  • Tally your outcomes

Week 5 - Improve the Program

  • Review your experiences
  • Strengthen the wins
  • Understand the "slips"
  • Measure progress by longer-term statistics
  • Improve the clarity of your program
  • Respect your needs and find "better" ways to address them
